Southern Baptists are united by their burning desire to see the world celebrate Christ, and by a firm conviction that together we can accomplish more than we can individually. Therefore, when you give your offering on Sunday morning, a portion of your tithe goes on to help fund the Cooperative Program (CP). CP funds are then divvied up to promote the extension of the Kingdom in a number of ways, including seminaries (like the one I attend), North American missions, international missions, etc.
The International Mission Board, as you probably already know, is the international missions sending agency of the CP and of Southern Baptists. Through the IMB, Southern Baptist currently support over 5,000 missionaries, and these missionaries engage over 1,000 different people groups with the good news of Jesus Christ.

Why do I write all of this? Because, we support these missionaries with our money, but Southern Baptists often know very little about these people. I would just like to encourage you this year to pick a region of the world, learn as much about the people and the missionaries of that region as you can, and adopt these missionaries and these people in your own personal prayer time. Beyond that, make it your goal to promote missions involvement in your own local church with this region of the world.
To help get start, I have found a website with links to all 11 regions of the world (as the IMB divides it). Check out this website. Pick a region, any region (it ain’t rocket-science!), explore their website, learn as much as possible, and get started. Make it your goal to be more involved in missions this year than you have ever been!
